Nevertheless, there are a number of distinct and best hairless dog breeds as well. These extremely uncommon dog breeds have genes that make them either fully hairless or with very little body hair.

While some of these breeds are closely related, some have a more unique ancestry.

The majority of hairless dog breeds tend to be rather cuddly and enjoy cuddling up with their owners for warmth, however, they differ in look and temperament.



10. Xoloitzcuintli

The Xoloitzcuintli, also called the Mexican Hairless Dog, is a long-extinct breed that originated with the Aztecs thousands of years ago. They are strong, well-muscled dogs that come in three different sizes and are either completely hairless or have extremely short hairs with distinctive mohawk tuft on top of their heads.

The Jonangi is a hairless breed that was developed primarily for use in herding and hunting in Pakistan and India. Even though some of these canines are known to be completely bald, they often have a very short, nearly unnoticeable coat.
