Colorpoint is a colouring pattern in which a cat's body is light and its extremities are black. Temperature variations are the direct reason. The darker areas of the cat are cooler than the lighter parts.

As a result, while their entire body is at the same temperature in their mother's womb, most colorpoint cats aren't born that way. Their points, though, will be exposed in a few days. These cats also tend to darken with age.
