This precious little girl's name is Pansy, and at only three weeks old, she's had one rough start at life. ARE Animal Rescue had found her with her rear legs paralyzed after she was thrown into a dumpster and left for dead. We always want to believe the best in people, but we can only assume once someone realized she was paralyzed, they deemed her as “useless” and threw her away like yesterday's disposable trash.
Pansy is suffering from severe Manx Syndrome, which is when the tailless gene shortens the spine too much. It can seriously damage the spinal cord and the nerves, causing a form of spina bifida, as well as problems with the bowels, bladder, and digestion. However, since coming into rescuers' care, they worked with her and she was able to gain use of her back legs! Even though she is missing two vertebrae in her back, she doesn't let that stop her from being the playful, happy little girl she is. Unfortunately, Pansy was doing well until she wasn't. About a week ago she had difficulty going to the bathroom and her anus closed up. Pansy is now at the emergency room undergoing life-saving surgery to reconstruct her back end.
To put it lightly, Pansy's life has been full of challenges and obstacles. We cannot wait for her to make a beautiful recovery so that she can finally live the life she deserves. In the meantime, please consider donating to her care. Whether it's a few dollars toward her medical care or some yummy food from her wishlist, everything makes a difference for this sweet girl. Thank you in advance for helping rescuers help Pansy!
