In this video Isla was just over 8 weeks old. Like most German Shepherds, she picked-up on these commands rather easily. They love training, and it is important for them to continue this for the rest of their lives.
Isla is a German Shepherd. The German Shepherd is a medium to large sized dog that originated in Germany. The German Shepherd Dog (GSD) is a relatively modern breed of dog with its origin dating to the year 1899. German Shepherd Dogs are well-known for their strength, intelligence, trainability, obedience, and work ethic. They are actually the second-most registered breed by the American Kennel Club. GSDs have a double coat which is dense with a thick undercoat. Regarding the coat, there are two variants: medium and long. The long hair is from a recessive gene and therefore more rare than German Shepherds with the short hair. German Shepherds are moderately active and well known for a willingness to learn. They also have a significant eagerness to have a purpose. Most people know that German Shepherd Dogs are protective over their family members.
