Abandoned bobcat kitten currently under the care of the Iowa Wildlife Center. The mother had four kittens in the window well of a home. She moved three of them fairly soon after their birth, perhaps deciding a window well wasn't the best den. This kitten was discovered alone, and it was left by the homeowner for 12 hours in the hopes that mom would come back for it (a wise move). Unfortunately, she never returned for the kitten. The homeowner called us and arranged for the kitten to be delivered to IWC, which was a 2-hour drive from their home. The homeowner cared for the kitten for several nights under the direction of their veterinarian while we made some arrangements. Talk about dedication to this wildlife!

The baby, maybe a week old now, is thriving. The park staff will keep an eye open for the mom and siblings, as we'd like to reunite them. In the meantime, we're trying to locate another kitten to raise it with, as that is always the best. We'll keep you posted.
