The Sphynx cat, or simply Sphynx, is a breed of cat known for its lack of fur. Hairlessness in cats is a naturally occurring genetic mutation, and the Sphynx was developed through selective breeding of these animals, starting in the 1960s.

Lifespan
9-15 years
Sphynx cats are generally healthy cats with an expected lifespan of 9-15 years. But, like all breeds, they are susceptible to certain health issues. "Common health conditions diagnosed in the sphynx include dental disease, skin problems such as oily or greasy skin, and heart problems," Lenox says.

Personality
They are known for their heat-seeking behavior; commonly found on top of computers or televisions, in sunny windows or under blankets. The Sphynx has an extroverted personality, enjoys entertaining and will often be the first to greet anyone who enters their home.

Colors
The Sphynx come in all possible colors and patterns. They can be solid (white, black, red, brown, lavender) or patterned (bicolor, calico, tabby, tortoiseshell, pointed and mink). The color and pattern is seen in the pigment of their skin, which makes it more difficult to distinguish than in coated cats.
