L’American Bobtail est un chat assez récent, surtout connu aux Etats-Unis et encore peu en Europe. Pourtant, il s’agit d’un chat adorable, très doux et délicat avec son maître, parfois pot-de-colle, qui possède un comportement proche de celui du chien. Il ne présente aucun problème de santé et ses 2 variétés, à poil court et à poil mi-long, ne sont guère difficiles à entretenir.
