Box 2 - nest building in progress - Box 1 is still online, read below for info on how to switch

Welcome to Box 2! This is being run as an experiment to see if it is actually possible to run two livestreams on one channel at the same time. I'm not sure if the chat will work but we'll all find out together. Nightbot might have a breakdown or melt or worse.

UPDATE - there is now a second livestream of another, different nestbox located in the same garden as this one. Simply click on the channel logo to choose which box you wish to view. If viewing on a mobile device hit the "X" on the top right of live chat to reveal the channel logo. It's the round picture to the left of the video title.

There's a friendly little helper called Nightbot who can answer frequently asked questions in the chat. Simply type in one of the phrases below to have your question answered. To be fair, many of them are answered in the text below too!

WHERE ARE THE BIRDS?
The birds pop in and out of the box during the day bringing in various materials with which to build the nest. The female does all the work in this species. She won't start sleeping in the box until a few days before she is ready to start to lay her eggs. She will lay one each morning before she ventures outside.

WELCOME to our second live nest box camera - Box 2. This nest box was installed on the 15th March 2022 and is located on the outskirts of Loughborough, UK.

This box was initially intended to be used by Robins. It has a removable hole panel which you may be able to make out on screen. However, after the neighbours told me about Magpies killing all the chicks in their Robin's nest I decided to keep the front on. It appears that another Blue Tit has decided to take up the lease on this particular box. This one is mounted on the back of the house, directly on the brickwork so the neighbour's ninja cat shouldn't be able to get near it! It does have a metal plate protecting the entrance hole from the local woodpeckers.

There are several feeders in the garden away from the nest box which are kept stocked with Sunflower Hearts, Mealworms, fat and protein balls, mixed seed and water.
