From the moment Brody Bear walked in to the room and saw the kids (ages 4 & 5), we knew that was his calling. Oh my heck does this wiggle butt love kids!! He is already a happy wiggly guy as is, but when he is around kids, it's almost like those general happy wiggles turn to and "ah ha" moment for him. A moment of realization with him that he has found his calling and is made to be a family dog. We don't know if he has ever lived with kids before or even been around kids but the second he saw them, it was like a light bulb went off and immediately took to them.

Brody Bear is believed to be a hound/lab mix approximately 10 months old and currently weighs 62 lbs. He is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it's always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age.

Don't you love him already?! We can't blame you because we do too. Brody really is such a sweet sweet boy that was made to be a family dog. You can tell just by the way he lights up when he is around kids and how gentle he is around them. He gentle every step the way with the 4 and 5 year old. From taking treats from them to giving gentle kisses. He wasn't overbearing with his love for them either, never knocking them down or leaning into them too much for affection. Brody wasn't bothered by the loud screaming, the jumping, the random pets/grabbing hands, and the overall chaos that comes with being in a room with a 4 and 5 year old. If you have kids, then you absolutely know what that can look and sound like LOL. We believe Brody Bear would make a great family dog with 1-2 kids in the home.

Funny thing about Brody that had us all giggling was the type of toys he likes. It wasn't the squeaky plushy toys, the crinkly toys or really even a tennis ball. Although, he did show a little more interest in the tennis balls and would do his version of a "pounce." I'm not sure how we discovered this but we did...Brody loves the cat toys that have a little tiny looking mouse that's connected to a string attached to a pole. He was so intrigued by it and would watch it as if he was watching paint dry and then when the moment was right, he would leap on to it or at least try to LOL. It was so funny and entertaining to watch especially when he was deciding the perfect moment to "pounce."

Brody is very dog friendly and has done great with all of the dogs he's been introduced to. He has even been used as an assessment dog from time to time because of how gentle and well-mannered he is around other dogs. Brody has even been able to help other dogs that are learning how to be around other dogs. He will say hello, let them do their thing, will play with them if play is initiated, he'll stop when they stop playing, and is just really great about matching his energy to the needs of the dog at that time. For the most part though, Brody is not a super playful guy with other dogs, he is more of a hang back, relax, watch the other dogs having fun kind of guy or he's found a person to give him some lovings. When Brody has found a play mate that he wants to play with, he will do these little spurts of play bows followed along with a light game of chase, maybe even a light wrestling match and that pretty much sums up Brody's play session. Short and sweet, just the way he likes it. His best doggy sibling match would be a gentle lady friend that has the same tempo as him. Cool, calm and collected. One that will play every now and then, has a more gentle play style and enjoys just hanging out and enjoying the sunshine together. If you don't have other dogs, that won't bother Brody one bit. He would be totally fine being your one and only. Brody doesn't need the company of another dog to help him feel comfortable or to fulfill his energy needs.

When it comes to training, Brody is very treat motivated and takes treats VERY gently! So much so that I physically had to put the treat in his mouth like a he was a baby bird. Which just goes to show how gentle natured he is. He walks fairly well on a leash, loves to explore, and hardly ever pulls. He sometimes lets his nose get the best of him and will let his nose take the lead (that's probably the hound coming out in him) and will zig zag to different smells. Even then, he barely pulls and it doesn't take much to correct him. All he needs is a little leash pressure and a verbal check in and he's walking on a straight path again. He would be a great nature trail adventure buddy to take with you to those trails you have marked on the map. He will love exploring and getting all the "sniffing" mental stimulation that comes with it. Brody is crate trained and potty trained and overall has good house manners.

We are willing to test Brody Bear with anything you need us to in order to ensure it's a perfect match just let us know.
