Dr. Swanand Sathe graduated with Honors from the Bombay Veterinary College (BVC) in 2001 and then completed a three year advanced training and Masters Program with Honors in Internal Medicine from BVC between 2001 and 2004. Dr. Sathe practiced equine sports medicine at the Bombay racetrack for the next two years before joining Poonawalla Stud Farms, one of the leading thoroughbred breeders in India. It was here where Dr. Sathe developed a passion for equine reproduction and decided to specialize in this field of veterinary medicine. In 2008 Dr. Sathe accepted a three year residency training in equine reproduction at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Here he not only trained in advanced equine reproduction, but also worked with other domestic and even exotic species such as white tailed deer. After completing a second Master’s Degree, Dr. Sathe accepted a faculty position at the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Theriogenology and section chief between 2013-2019. Dr. Sathe then decided to change the pace of his career and accepted the position of an equine reproductive veterinarian at Cambridge Equine Hospital in New Zealand. Dr. Sathe has been engaged in thoroughbred and sport horse breeding in New Zealand for the past two years and is keen to continue pursuing this passion at the Delaney Veterinary Services. He has special interest in all aspects of assisted reproductive techniques in equine reproduction, as well as care and management of high risk pregnancies.
