Cat Country at the Memphis. Filmed August 20, 2022.

Ancient Egyptian Societies believed that cats were magical beings that gods would chose as vessels to inhabit, and that their presence would bring good luck to those who cared for them. The Memphis Zoo pays homage to this belief system with their Egyptian themed archway leading into Cat Country! A 4-acre complex that features of the most complete collections of big cats found at any zoo. The exhibits feature natural elements like kopjes, open savannas, rock caves and waterfalls to help mimic each species natural habitat. We’ll come across the rare Amur Leopard, the mysterious Snow Leopard, an elusive Fishing Cat and begin and end with Lions, perhaps the most iconic big cat of all.
