Cat Shot With High Caliber Bullet Has Leg Turned Upside Down, & His Life Now At Risk

This wounded soul was discovered in the nick of time, left alone and in pain any longer, he surely would would have been on the brink of death. Already, this poor baby had suffered far too long and was critical at the time he was found. When new homeowners moved into their house, they never expected a refugee to have taken up residency prior to their arrival. It was painfully obvious though that this cat needed medical attention immediately if he was going to have a chance at survival.

As soon as we heard about the cat we now call Reno, we rushed to his aid and promptly took over his care. As soon as we met him, our hearts sank as we saw how wounded his leg had become from an injury. At the vet, it was confirmed that his leg had suffered an old injury, and although his leg was ‘healed,’ it didn’t heal properly and ended up becoming deformed. He had a huge red wound from dragging his foot behind him, paw up, knee down.

We were met with an unexpected and horrifying discovery about Reno at the vet. After X-rays were taken, it was confirmed that Reno had been shot with a high caliber bullet. Fragments of the bullet had shattered throughout his leg, causing immense pain. At this point, it was determined the best course of action for little Reno was to amputate his leg.

Reno is now resting comfortably at the vet with pain medication and round-the-clock care post-op. Despite everything he’s been through, Reno is one of the most CUDDLY souls we have ever met. We are going to do everything we can to help him continue to recover and begin to live out his best life. Though we don’t know the details of who did this or why they would commit such a heinous crime, Reno should know how much his life is worth and how loved he deserves to be.
