In today's video, we are going to talk about some interesting facts and myths, about the Chausie Cat.

Intense, complicated, and gorgeous, the Chausie cat is not a fully domesticated cat. Like the Bengal and the Savannah, the Chausie is a hybrid, meaning a cross between two different animal species.

Depending on lineage, Chausie cats can be up to 30 pounds, making them one of the few giant cat breeds. They have long, powerful, supple bodies, and an unusually short tail, sometimes half the length one might expect given the size of the cat.

The Chausie cat is most easily described as looking like a miniature cougar or mountain lion.

Ancient Egyptians tamed these cats and kept them as pets. In fact, along with domestic cats, the jungle cat can be found buried with their owners in ancient graves. They were mummified in exactly the same process as their humans.

The Chausie is gaining in popularity because it is far removed from its wild ancestor. Most Chausies today have two Chausie parents and are quite domesticated.

They are a challenging fit for inexperienced cat owners, simply because they are "allot of cat."

Best left for those with experience, and families that probably do not have small children, and small animals as pets, the Chausie can be a fantastic choice for the right situation.

Here are some interesting facts about Chausie Cats.

1. Chausie Cat's Personality.

The Chausie cat is a very social animal, seeking attention and longing for interaction. This is a cat that needs companionship.

Another cat may keep them company, but they are quite people-oriented. They may bond deeply with one member of the family, and be anxious, or even seem to mourn that person's absence. This doesn't mean their affection is limited to one family member, just that they have been known to form unusually tight bonds with individual people.

Some owners confine their cats to one room, or even a crate when they aren't home, and encourage their pet to take a nap while they're away. Avoid these problems by only considering a pet Chausie if you have lots of time to devote to them. You won't be disappointed.

The Chausie is a loving, expressive, and surprisingly gentle cat. They are happy, curious, dog-like, and affectionate.

2. Chausie Cat's Behaviour.

They are normally active and very curious.

They tend to be very vocal. Owners might be concerned about excessive and undesirable crying or meowing, especially at night.

And they are highly intelligent.

3. Chausie Cat's Attention Needs.

Cats in general tend to require a lot of attention. Owners who are home often or are able to participate in activities with this cat breed will be delighted. Try to spend 10-15 minutes actively involved with this breed several times a day. Daily exercise will help maintain its body weight and keep its muscles toned and strong. Toys are important to allow the cat to stay active and engaged.

4. Chausie Cat's Grooming.

Although cats groom themselves, regular grooming is advised to keep its coat in good shape. It stimulates circulation, massages the skin, and removes debris and loose hair. Grooming also strengthens the bond between the owner and the cat.

Bathing.

As cats clean themselves, bathing can be introduced into the cat's routine when it's a kitten and should be done every two to three weeks. During times of shedding, bathing will help to remove dead hair. Fill a washbasin or sink with lukewarm water, and ensure that you use Veterinary approved shampoo. Work the shampoo in thoroughly, and ensure that it completely washed out, as any residue shampoo can hurt your kitty when it dries.

Brushing.

They shed moderately, so regular brushing is a must. Brushing must be introduced when your cat is still a kitten, as it helps to form good habits. Don't forget to brush the stomach and under the neck area. Your cat can be brushed every two to three weeks to remove dead hair. Do not brush too much, as cats produce oil through their hair to cover the coat and keep it healthy. Too much brushing can stimulate these oils in excess. Make sure you clean the brush after each brushing.
