In this two part series, join farmer and educator Steve Gabriel for a discussion about how a woodlot can be utilized responsibly for supporting livestock well being and productivity. Historically, many farmers have put animals in the woods, but often this results in exposed soil, erosion, and damage to trees. With intentional planning and best practices, the right woodland can benefit from livestock integration and offer a place of shade, shelter, and forage during the hottest and coldest times of the season. These webinars will feature examples and some step-by-step approaches to transitioning a woodland into a site for grazing animals.
During Part 2, viewers will learn a range of techniques to thin trees, remove vegetation, and set a woodland up for efficient grazing.
