German Shepherds are exceptional swimmers known to be capable of swimming for long distances, making you think they must have webbed feet.
But in reality, the German Shepherd's official standard does not include webbed paws.
However, some German Shepherds do end up with webbed feet when breeders stray from the official breed standard.
Why Does My German Shepherd Have Webbed Feet?
If your German Shepherd has webbed feet, your GSD breed is probably not registered with the American Kennel Club.
If you bought your German Shepherd from a breeder who wasn't showing their dogs and your puppy's parents weren't registered with the AKC, or if they were breeding mixed breed dogs, you probably have what’s known as a "pet quality" dog.
