Tis the season to make some easy homemade dog treats for your puppies. These candy cane dog treats with dog friendly icing are a super easy treat you can make for your dogs to celebrate the christmas season.

My Staffordshire Bull Terrier and American Bully dogs absolutely loved these cute homemade dog treats. Give them a try at home and treat your dogs this holiday season. Full recipe down below!

Materials used to make homemade dog treats

Ingredients:
Candy Cane Dough
✔ 2 cup whole grain whole wheat flour (almond or coconut flour also works)
✔ 2 Tbsp pure Honey
✔ 1/2 cup water
✔ 1 large egg
✔ 1/2 cup raspberries
✔ 1 Tbsp Natural Peanut Butter

Homemade Dog Friendly Icing
✔ 1/2 Cup Plain Greek Yogurt
✔ 1/2 Cup Tapioca Flour
✔ 2 Tbsp Milk

Recipe

- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Combine flour, honey, water, and large egg in a bowl.
- Mix well with spatula or whisk to form a ball of dough.
- Separate into 2 equal balls of dough
- Mix raspberries into one ball of dough, Peanut butter into other ball.
- Roll dough to 1/4" thickness
- Cut 1/2 Inch strips from each flavor of dough
- Use one raspberry dough strip and one peanut butter dough strip and braid together.
- Gently roll strips once braided
- Curl top 1/3 of braided strip to form candy cane shape
- Bake at 350F for 20 minutes
- Let cool for 20 minutes before adding dog friendly icing

Homemade Dog Friendly Icing
- Tapioca flour, plain greek yogurt, and 1 Tbsp of milk together
- Mix gently
- Add another Tbsp of milk and mix well. Add additional milk as need to get right consistency. Do this slowly to avoid watery icing

Final Steps:
- Add icing to cake pipe
- Apply icing to cooled down candy cane dog treats
- Serve to your puppers right away, or wait for icing to harden.
- Watch your dogs love their delicious homemade candy cane dog treats.
