The Exotic Shorthair is a breed of cat developed as a short-haired version of the Persian. This breed is similar to the Persian in many ways, including temperament and conformation, with a flat nose and face, except for the short, dense coat. This breed has an average lifespan of 12 to 15 years, but the longest known Exotic Shorthair cat has lived to be 17 years and 1 month . Exotic Shorthairs are gentle medium-sized cats that tend to form strong bonds with their owners, get along well with other pets and children, and have gentle personalities. Although Exotic Shorthairs have relatively low energy levels and exercise needs, they will happily play with toys such as fishing rods with feathers for hours .
