These four cows have been getting special treatment since they are the only ones now at our home farm in Montrose. The rest of the livestock is at a leased farm for the spring. I've been taking them some treats out when I go to do chores. They are getting friendly, Big Rhonda will now eat out of my hand and so will the others. Willie and Charlie are letting me scratch their chins a bit too.

Red Leg Farms is a veteran owned and family managed farm located in Montrose, MI. We currently raise Scottish Highland cows for beef as well as haired sheep and pigs. We are a first generation family farm and we are continuing to work hard and grow. We use regenerative practices on our farm, keeping things simple and using the animals to improve the soil health. While we are not certified organic, we do follow organic practices as part of our regenerative commitment. We are members of the American Highland Cattle Association. Please subscribe to our channel for more videos of our animals and farm.

Scottish Highlander cows are a heritage breed dating back to the 6th century. They originate from the rough and craggy highlands of North Scotland. Highlanders are a resilient breed and are known for their foraging ability. They can use their horns to work through brush and trees to get at tender shoots they like to eat. They are a dual purpose breed and can not only provide exceptional beef but high fat milk. Highlander beef is renowned for its flavor and marbling as well as its tenderness. Even the Queen of England has a fold of Scottish Highlanders at her Scottish estate Balmoral. We chose them for our farm because of their foraging ability and great finishing on grass.
