Forcing dogs by grabbing or pulling can clause them to bite. For example a dog is under the table and you want them out so you grab the collar to pull them out. Or to force them into a crate or to be groomed. There can be obvious signs the dog doesn’t like it. They may turn their mouth toward your hand, lip curl, side eye you or growl. These are all warnings. Unfortunately if we don’t heed those warnings a dog can resort to biting. Once the dog makes the connection that biting stop unwanted behavior from you, it can be hard to break them of it. This is just a mild example of how it begins. This dog will get mouthy and nippy with people and sometimes just go crazy. He’s far worse with people he has less respect for but still clear he has the potential to bite if people continue to grab, get frustrated and be forceful.
