Indian Grey Mongoose (Herpestes edwards) Eating Dead Pig: Rare Incident Caught on Camera

A Indian gray mongooses (Herpestes edwardsi) is a long, furry animal with a pointy face and bushy tail. They are not rodents, despite popular belief. They belong to the Herpestidae family, which includes meerkats and civets. The Indian gray mongoose can survive a cobra attack, which few animals can, making it one of this deadly snake’s predators.

Indian gray mongooses occupy coastal area from Arabia to Nepal and downward through Pakistan, India, and Ceylon.

They have been observed in areas of thickets, in cultivated fields or in broken, bushy vegetation. They also occupied open areas, grasslands, and scrub. They sleep in holes in the ground or hollow trees to escape the mid-day sun.
