One day in the summer of 2006, I was visiting my grandma and out of nowhere Kitty appeared and claimed her home as her own. Grandma's rat dog tried to chase her out many times but she kept coming back and eventually put him in his place.
She loved my Grandma and her home and was there with her until the very end. I adopted her after Hermy passed away a few months later, in late 2015 and she was the most wonderful cat I could have ever asked for, only surpassing Hermy by a hair's width.
She was my cat and nobody else's. She'd interact with other people a little bit but would always come back to me and constantly inched her way up onto my laptop or sat squished next to me.
She was as dumb as a box of rocks and I wouldn't have it any other way. They don't get into as much trouble as smart cats. She was also very tolerant and would let me dress her up sometimes and took no time getting used to a harness and leash.
She tried to stab my ex-roommate with a knife once too. I asked her to feed Kitty some wet food. While she was opening the can, Kitty jumped onto the counter, grabbed the knife, and flung it back toward my roommate. She'd never tried to jump on the counter before and I like to say she was trying to warn me that said roommate was stealing my money. Good Kitty.
Kitty had all these adorable little quirks. She would cuddle up next to me when I was working on my laptop and would slowly inch her way on top of it all sneaky. If you touched the base of her tail it would shoot up at mach speed. If you pet her just right, her mouth would hang open and she'd look so blissed. She adjusted really well to being an indoor-only cat when I adopted her.
She passed away on June 1st, 2021 after sudden kidney failure at around 16 years old. I still miss her so much. She'll always be in my heart.
Kitty was the best cat I could ever ask for. My other cats were all way up there, but Kitty was just extra special.
