Lutalyse for Goats? Get it right or it'll be wrong!

Lutalyse or "lut" can be used in goats.

But it's important to understand how to use it and why and when to use it.

Although it isn't labeled for use in goats it can be safely used if it is used properly. If you are a woman, be careful getting it on your skin because it can cause an abortion in you and affect your hormones.

These are how it can be used:
1. to sync your herd's heat cycle. The reason you'd do this is: buck availability, artificial insemination, planning kidding season, and when to market kids. And it can be used to bring a doe into a heat cycle when they are out of season--be sure to wait two heat cycles before breeding to make sure the eggs are viable.
2. it can help to resolve fertility issues in a doe.
3. it can trigger an absorption of an embryo or cause an abortion, depending on when given. This would be used if a buck got into doelings and they were bred too early, or bred to a buck that is too large or there are health risks to the doe.
4. I can indue labor or help progress labor when a doe is overdue. But this must be used with absolute caution--if it is used at all at the wrong time, it can have devastating results and kids can be killed unnecessarily.
