Yes, you love German Shepherds too?! You can imagine my happiness that you are taking a look at me! My name is Rex and I weigh 38 pounds. Already at 7 months old, I am a handsome dude – check out my ears! Since I’ll be a big boy, my forever home will need a 6 foot fenced-in enclosure to contain all my energy. I am able to walk slowly on this thing called a leash so we can get out and about and show off. The folks here at NMDR have observed that I too, am observant. I am social with more confident dogs and I like calm dogs. And I like accepting treats from your hands and approach folks who are holding treats for me. I also like toys; you will need to purchase some of those for me – I do not know what kind but we’ll figure it out together. Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
