"Hudson & Rex" In the series, Diesel plays Rex, a former police K9 whose human partner dies, so he’s taken in by future partner detective Charlie Hudson, played by John Reardon.The Canadian TV show shot in Newfoundland is based on Inspector Rex, the Austrian series originally called Kommissar Rex. While Rex is usually played by one dog, a German shepherd called Diesel vom Burgimwald. Interestingly enough, Diesel actually is related to the German shepherd who starred in Inspector Rex (Kommissar Rex, Diesel is a 15th descendant the dog on Kommissar Rex.
