Sometimes I get asked "are snakes smart?" or "are reptiles smart?". It seems common to want to know what the intelligence capacity of a reptile is, can reptiles, snakes, lizards or turtles love you or recognize you? Well it's tough to say but what I can tell you for sure is that some of my reptiles in the reptile room are way smarter than others! Take Irwin my Blue Tongue Skink for example. What a cutie and actually pretty smart! He isn't too flighty for a lizard but he does seem to know what's going on and he is for sure a big brain boy! My box turtle Floyd on the other hand? Well, not the sharpest knife in the drawer. He is a super cute turtle though and I love him. My tortoise is a bit derpy too but I love my red foot and cherry head tortoise. Of course my leopard gecko LittleFoot isn't quick witted, nor would she last a day on her own but that's why she is so cute, she just kinda stumbles around. Diamond though, now this bearded dragon is a mensa member! an absolute genius of a reptile, my smartest lizard maybe. We will just leave Atilla my Sudan Plated Lizard out of this.
