We got a call from one of our church friends. In the middle of almost nowhere West Virginia, a cat had turned up at her house 2 weeks ago. She had been poncing food from their small neighbourhood. No-one seemed to know where she came from or who she belonged to, She had gotten into their house and for whatever reason had peed on the bed. They have two dogs. One is a Labradoodle rescue that I suspected wanted to eat her! They set up a dog cage in the garage with a heated cat bed and let us know. It has been bitterly cold and my friend was worried, quite rightly, about her freezing to death. We collected her last night. A neighbour had said she looked like a Bengal, and she was right! She was in the garage, but was shivering, had a temp and she kind of sneezed/snuffled.. definitely a developing URTI.. she had been on dry food and was VERY dehydrated, what with the food and high temp. She peed on the puppy pad on the way home. Man, did SHE make a racket!! When I got her into her room I had put a pint-and-a-half of filter water down with 10 drops GSE and she drank a whole 8 ounces!
I have started her on AMOXICILLIN and will switch to Visbiome Probiotics after a week to "reset: her gut microbiome.
I believe she has dental resorption, common in this breed. I couldn't get near her mouth without her yelling. So.. she is peeing - IN her box - YES! She passed a large, VERY constipated stool this morning so we MAY see some loose ones shortly!
She has been eating Canned, with the antibiotics added, and has had a flea treatment. No sign of fleas, but I WILL worm her when she is better!
