Differences Between the Bengal Tiger and the Siberian Tiger

Both belonging to the species Panthera Thigris, the Bengal tiger is known by its scientific name Panthera Tigris Tigris while the Siberian tiger for is called by its scientific name Panthera Tigris Altaica. At first glance they are very similar animals, but they have very prominent differences.

Differences between weight and size
Previously, the Siberian tiger was considered the largest of the subspecies, however recent studies indicate that the Bengal tiger is currently the largest. The total length of the Bengal tiger can reach 270-310 cm long, the Siberian tigers can measure up to 200 to 250 cm in length, in both cases the tail measures 80 to 100 cm.
In terms of weight the Siberian tiger takes first place, reaching a 320 kg average weight, while the Bengal tigers have an average weight of 222 kg. The largest Bengal tiger in recorded history measured 338 cm and weighed 388.7 kg, while its largest Siberian cousin measured 333 cm and weighed 465 kg.

Differences in habits
Differences can also be seen depending on the location of each species. For example, the Bengal tiger can be found in India, Bangladesh and Nepal, in the different parks of these countries since. There are very few existing wild animals there.
We can find the Siberian tiger in the extreme Southeast of Russia and in the border between China and Russia. In earlier times they could be found in countries like Mongolia and Korea. However due to hunting and the Asian black market, its range is now reduced.
As for the weather, the Bengal tiger lives in hot desert areas and on grasslands where the climate is humid and cool. The Siberian tiger is adapted to live in extreme cold conditions, inhabiting snowy places for example. But we can also find them in wetlands and grasslands.
