Things To Know About Owning A RAGDOLL Cat: Vlog Reaction

There are several videos on YouTube produced by more popular YouTubers who have Ragdoll kittens or cats. The videos cover things like, "10 Things To Know About Owning A RAGDOLL Cat" or "Owning a Ragdoll Cat || Things to know".

And while these videos have good intentions from people that love their Ragdolls - usually they are filled with generalizations and stereotypes about the Ragdoll cat breed.

The danger with this is for those that are looking to adopt a Ragdoll, and aren't familiar with the breed. They see this perfect video of this person's cat - and sometimes that person has only had their cat for a year or less when they make the video. Which in the grand scheme of a cat's life, is not a lot of time.

And so those watching or reading, looking to adopt a Ragdoll, apply the traits of that YouTuber's specific Ragdoll to the entire breed.

The breed stereotype thing is horrible because I have rec'd countless emails where people get rid of or rehome their Ragdolls because they don't match the breed description they saw or read about online. I wish the breed descriptions came with clauses or something that says they are living souls and they are all different.

Those videos and other articles on the Internet cause people to have expectations.

I wish people didn't have expectations of breeds - unfortunately, cats are not machines nor are they made in a factory. They are living, breathing souls and all will be different - just because we come with white, black or brown skin as humans, doesn't mean we have certain white, black or brown qualities as people. We all differ and same goes with Ragdolls and other breeds of cats.

I would so prefer if they would just make the video about THEIR EXPERIENCE with THEIR Ragdoll cat. That would be so much better and save me from countless e-mails where people are disappointed because their cat doesn't fit the description of the one they read about online.
