Today we are going to discuss about The British Shorthair Cat. The British Shorthair Cat is believed to be a direct descendant of cats brought to Britain by Roman invaders. They were used for pest control and quickly spread across the country as strays and farm cats. People quickly welcome them into their homes due to their poised and confident disposition. Over time, they develop round faces and short, thick coats of various colors.
In the late 1800s, a dedicated cat breeder named Harrison Weir officially began breeding British Shorthairs by crossing multiple cats. British Shorthairs are also prized for their thick, fluffy coat, which can be almost any color or pattern and weigh up to 17 pounds in males. The most popular color choice among British Shorthair owners is blue-grey cats, also known as British blues.
