==►C'est un gros chien. La hauteur au garrot des mâles est de 61 centimètres et plus, les chiennes - 56 centimètres et plus. La tête est proportionnelle au corps. Le crâne est large, presque carré. Les arcades sourcilières sont bien définies. La transition du front au museau est distincte. Le museau est puissant, carré, tronqué, environ la moitié de la longueur totale de la tête. Le nez est grand et noir avec de larges narines. Un articulé en ciseaux, voire un articulé droit, mais indésirable. Les yeux sont écartés, sombres ou grillagés (l'un marron, l'autre bleu). Deux yeux bleus sont autorisés. Les yeux clairs sont indésirables.
