==►La race a été introduite aux États-Unis au début des années 1970 par Hal et Tommy Meadow, des émigrants déménageant chez eux. Les premiers éleveurs de Singapour se sont rapidement mis au travail pour établir des caractéristiques de race pure telles que l'uniformité dans l'apparence et, surtout, la santé et la disposition. Ce développement soigneux de la race a conduit à l'émergence d'un petit nombre de chats de race variée, mais l'un d'entre eux est très demandé et reconnu. Aujourd'hui, la race est internationalement reconnue et reconnue par la plupart des associations d'enregistrement. Singapore a été admis au club CFA pour l'enregistrement en 1982 et pour le championnat en 1988.
