Why are Australian Shepherds Tails cut off?

Did you know that most Australian Shepherds, Miniature Australian Shepherds, Toy Australian shepherds and Miniature American Shepherds are born with tails but get them cut off when they are puppies? This practice is also common in other breeds such as most terriers, Doberman Pincers, Min Pins, Poodles, etc, etc! It is so common that most people don't realize the dog is actually mutilated, having a very important and useful body part removed just for the sake of fashion. Here we do not dock (cut off) tails. Our pups keep the tails they are born with. In this modern age it seems barbaric to chop up an animal purely for the sake of fashion. Other countries have outlawed tail docking and ear cropping and in my opinion it is time to do that in the U.S. as well. What is your opinion?
