This is part 2 of our Eastern Bluebird series. This is a glimpse at some of what has been happening outside of the nestbox during the construction of the nest.
In the first scene, the male is blocking the entrance to the nestbox when the female arrives with the nesting materials, so she lands on the roof of the nestbox while waiting for the male to move out of the way. Before he moves, the male attempts a game of tug-of-war with the female for the nesting materials. The male breaks off a piece before flying away.
In the second scene, the female enters with the nesting materials while the male stands guard.
In the third scene, which took place outside of the nestbox during our first video that we posted in this series, the male feeds the female as she exits the nest box.
This video was captured March 29, 2021, March 30, 2021, and April 2, 2021, on our Ring Spotlight Cam, which is installed directly over the nestbox. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0758L64L9/.
