The sole surviving Osprey chick on Satakunta nest 3 gets a good feed 11 Jun 2021

Ahti arrives at 19.01 with a big chunk of fish, and Nuppu immediately gets up to take it from him. He perches off to one side for a few moments watching as the one surviving chick immediately sits up and faces the food, before flying off. After a couple of mouthfuls for herself, Nuppu starts feeding the eager chick who's squeaking away. If the weather holds off, this chick should have a good chance of survival as it now has its parents undivided attention. Nuppu breaks off feeding to check out something overhead, then does a bit of nest tidying before settling down to brood her chick, who's still squeaking indicating its keen on getting more to eat.

Here's an update from Satakunta Osprey Project earlier today regarding the tragic deaths of the other two chicks which happened following severe weather conditions over 10-11/6/2021:
After previous happy news from Nupu and Ahti’s # 3 nest, nature quickly showed its other side. Of the three little chicks, two died yesterday during a severe thunderstorm. The female protected the chicks to the best of her ability, but after the rain stopped, only one was alive. The whole could have been affected by several factors, but during the storm, the chicks were allowed to cool down after getting wet under Nupu’s protection. The temperature dropped in the nest area by more than ten degrees during a thunderstorm. The events combined at least the following factors: a severe storm, the placement of the chicks in shelter, and the possible inexperience of the mother. I have to remember that the female Nuppu was not ringed as a nestling until 2018 and all the mother's activities are new to her. It tried its best to protect its chicks in a severe storm. Small chicks are particularly susceptible to heat fluctuations and other external factors.
